Power Beyond Block Kit for John Deere 4040 Tractor
The reason the JD 4040 tractor requires a different power beyond block than the other John Deere 4000 series tractors is because there isn't enough room to install a line at the top of the power beyond block when installing the block on the 4040. The block for the 4040 has another port in another location.

The image below shows the power beyond block installed on the JD 4040, compared to the JD 4230. The setup of the JD 4230 is similar to the other tractors in the John Deere 4000 series. The 4040 doesn't have enough room at the top of the block to allow for the pressure hose to be installed in the top port. The 4040 block has a port on the left hand side for the pressure hose. It also has a port on the bottom for the return line.
